When guests hear ‘tent’, some picture sleeping bags and torches. Then they walk into a canvas suite with a four-poster bed, a chandelier and a wooden bathtub, and laugh.

A luxury tented camp keeps the closeness of canvas — the sounds, the air, the feeling of being part of the landscape — with the comfort of a fine hotel room.
What is inside a tent at Escape
- A four-poster king bed with premium linen and fine mosquito netting.
- An en-suite bathroom with carved stone basins, hot and cold running water, and indoor and outdoor showers.
- A freestanding handcrafted wooden tub.
- Solar electricity, USB charging, an in-room safe and a minibar.
- A private veranda, and canvas walls that roll back completely.
Tented camp or lodge?
A lodge is usually built of stone or brick and often larger. A tented camp is lighter on the land and more intimate. At Escape there are just twelve tents, each individually positioned for privacy and its own view.
Is it safe?
Yes. Maasai rangers escort guests after dark, a trained safety team is on site and there is direct radio contact at all times. Hearing a lion call at night from your bed is one of the great memories of a safari — not a worry.
Is it comfortable in the cold and rain?
Warm throws keep nights cosy, and quality canvas keeps the rain out. A storm on canvas is wonderful to listen to.
